Admissions for M.Sc.(Informatics) - 2011

The candidate must have passed from the University of Delhi with any of the following degrees or have equivalent qualification from a recognized University / Institutions with at least 50% marks in aggregate

  1. Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 scheme (B.Sc/B.Sc.(H)/B.Appl.Sc.) in Physical Sciences or Chemical Science or Electronic Sciences or Mathematical Sciences or Computer Science or any combinations of subjects with at least two from these disciplines.

  2. B.E./B.Tech. degree in any discipline.

  3. The candidates must have attained at least 20 years of age, as on the 1st October of the year of admission. The Vice Chancellor, on the basis of individual merit may relax the lower age limit up to a maximum period of one year.

  4. Students who are appearing or have appeared in the final examination of the above courses may also apply. However, the results of the qualifying examination must be submitted on or before 31st August, 2011, failing which the admission will be cancelled.

Number of Seats: The total numbers of seats (including reserved seats) for M.Sc. are 62.

How to Apply:
The application forms along with Information Bulletin can be obtained personally between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on working days (excluding Sat/Sun & Holidays) or by post on sending a request along with the requisite demand draft, from the office of IIC, University of Delhi South Campus, Benito Juarez Road, New Delhi 110021. Duly completed application forms for entrance examination can be submitted personally or by post at the office of the IIC. Demand drafts should be drawn in favour of “The Director, University of Delhi South Campus”, payable at State Bank of India, UDSC, New Delhi.

The fee paid shall neither be refunded in any case nor shall be reserved for any subsequent year.

Important Information:

  1. Application should reach the IIC, University of South Campus, Benito Juarez road, New Delhi-110021 latest by 20th May, 2011.

  2. Copies of academic record are not required to be sent with the application form. However, the candidates of reserved category must attach a certificate from the appropriate authority giving their reservation category.

  3. Original certificates of academic record, mark-sheets, extra-curricular activities, etc., will have to be produced at the time of interview.

  4. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of the University of Delhi. The final result of the qualifying examination must be submitted on or before 31st August, 2011, failing which admission will be canceled.

Eligible candidates who do not receive their admission ticket in time should report in person with copy of statement documents at IIC office, University of Delhi south campus on 10th June, 2011 between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Eligible candidates will be issued a duplicate admission ticket, and allowed to appear for the entrance test at Delhi centre. NO SUCH CASES WILL BE SONSIDERED ON THE DAY OF THE ENTRANCE TEST.

Selection Procedure:

There will be a written admission test for all the eligible candidate (including the students whose results are awaited) on Sunday the 12th June 2011 at Delhi.

The question paper for the entrance examination will be of multiple-choice type. The question paper will have two parts and will be for a total of 3 hours duration.

Part I: General English Comprehension, Analytical Ability and Reasoning.
Part II: Mathematics, Physics and Electronics & Basic knowledge of Computers.

A suitable number of candidates in order of merit from among the general and reserved categories who qualify the written test will be called for group discussion and interview to be held at the University of Delhi South Campus, New Delhi. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidate for appearing in the entrance test or for the group discussion/interview. The candidates whose results are awaited may be provisionally allowed to appear in the interview upon giving an undertaking.

The candidates who do not appear in the group discussion/interview will not be considered for admission.

The final selection for admission will be based on the following criteria:
Written test: 75% weightage.
Group Discussion and Interview: 25% weightage.

There will be separate lists of selected candidates for general and reserved categories.

If the list of selected candidate includes the names of those who were provisionally allowed to appear in the group discussion and interview, they will be entitled to provisional admission, on they condition that they submit their final results before the date specified by the University.
